Remote learning and Feedback

With school life slowly returning to 'normal', it is important that as a school and community we understand and review the policies and systems that were used during our time of closure. 

Firstly, it is important to congratulate the entire Ankermoor community with their ability to adapt, persevere and commit to the new way of learning.  The staff, parents and children were able to continue with their learning with as little disruptions as possible and this must be celebrated.  

It is also important for us to move forward and gain as much knowledge as possible, so we can improve further. This will allow any further use of Remote Learning to be as useful as possible.  

Here is the anonymous feedback from the parents survey that was sent out once school re-opened. 


We had 54 responses to the survey so thank you to everyone who took the time to send in their feedback.  This can only help improve our systems for the future.


An average rating of 4.6 out of 5 was given as a rating on how supported the children were during the time of lockdown. This included support with work, online access, emotional support and more.  A huge effort from the staff to identify and support the needs of our children. 

Really positive to know that the majority of parents believed their children made progress during this time.  It was important for us to make sure that we continued to teach our children rather than just giving them tasks to fill the time.  Remote learning can be a useful tool and when organised correctly, can be really effective. 

Out of the 54 responses, an average score of 4.5 out of 5 was given to the overall communication. Weekly phone calls from teachers, office staff on site constantly taking messages, extra contact details like the 'inbox@ankermoor' for IT or access needs and Teams were a few of the procedures that we put in place.  

Question 5 asked parents for their opinions on the Remote learning provisions, Tapestry and Microsoft Teams. 
These comments and opinions have been extremely useful for us and will allow us to adapt accordingly.   Comments ranged from praising the platforms were perfect for remote learning, live assemblies were excellent and teachers were quick with marking and responses to children couldn't work independently online, worksheets and paper packs were better and live lessons were difficult to manage. 

All the comments have been useful and will be considered moving forwards.

Currently, our assemblies are still live with parents invited to join each of our weekly Special Mention assemblies, on Fridays.  Our last parents evening was made available on Teams or via phone call. Some appointments worked brilliant, but there were still problems that needed fixing.  Other ideas and plans are being put in place for the future. 

Overall, the whole process was a success with plenty of areas to praise and be positive, but there is always room for improvements.
